As many of you will be aware, the cost of living crisis has had a major impact on small shops, and sadly our eco centre shop is no different in feeling the impact. With a declined footfall and 20% downturn in sales it has made it increasingly difficult to sustain stock and overhead costs, especially as our shop was set up to help fund our charitable activities and we need to make sure it continues to do this.
As of January 2024, we are making a change to our opening hours for the zero waste shop and community recycling area which will now be closed on Tuesdays, however we will still remain open to the public Wednesday to Saturday. We hope this will be a temporary measure but with the challenging situation, we are taking proactive steps to ensure the long-term viability of our store and community nonprofit.
Our new public opening hours come into effect in the new year and will be:
Monday CLOSED
Tuesday CLOSED
Wednesday 9am – 5pm
Thursday 9am – 5pm
Friday 9am – 5pm
Saturday 9am – 4pm
Sunday CLOSED
Please note that the volunteer programme and venue hire activity (i.e. Yoga) will continue to operate as normal on Tuesdays, the new opening hours apply only to the shop and recycling drop off.
We understand that this change may not be convenient for everyone, and we sincerely apologise for any inconvenience it may cause. We hope this temporary measure enables us time to adapt our approach to make sure we’re fighting fit for the future. The quickest way to get us back open to full hours again is to support us in the shop or recycle with us (we are particularly keen to receive ink cartridges for recycling as we receive donations for these).
